News: Phantom Hourglass Has Online Multiplay!

Posted by Tom Phillips - Mar 11th 2007 19:34

Gamers will be able to take Link online, as it's confirmed that Phantom Hourglass has Wi-Fi!

The upcoming DS incarnation of the ever-popular Zelda series is to feature online multi-player battling via the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. DS owners will be able to hook up their copy of the game to the Internet, and fight other owners of the game the world over.

Details of the multi-player's features are scarce, but it appears it will take the form of one-on-one battles against your friends, although Eiji Aonuma has also mentioned a "tag mode". He has also said that the game is now in its final stages, with a release in Japan first on the calender.

More details as we get them.

I'd say it'll be mainly mini-games of some sort, rather than say some sort of co-op arrangement like Four Swords.

Looks to me like "duels" of some sort, with the "tag" mode being a capture the flag style play.

I heard/read it was a 1 vs 3 (Link vs guards) sneak-by sorta thing. Each player takes it in turns to be Link, and whichever Link was the most successful after the complete round, obviously, wins.

Maybe I'm wrong...?

I can't see why a game like Zelda even needs multiplayer? Same goes for Metroid Prime. They are not built for that, why add it? Geez.

I say they should take a large map, make forts on each side, put a flag in each one, then had everyone choose two weapons to use in battle, and have one giant 100 link game of capture the flag.

Randavance - that would be the BEST MULTIPLAYER GAME EVER. Imagine that...teams of Links fighting one another, a line of archers standing in each castle with a huge battle in the middle of the field... Teams constantly changing as people switch in and out.... Bombs going off everywhere, boomerangs flying everywhere, Links screaming "hiiiii-yah!" all over the place...
That would be the best game in the world

I think a tag game would be great, I used to play this earthbound based tag game. (fan made of course) and it worked pretty well and was pretty fun. As far as any other multiplayer goes, I think some 4 swords style game play would be nice.
