News: NiGHTS 2 Exclusive To Wii!

News that can only be described in one 'word': ZOMFG! Scans inside.

A Portugese magazine has finally unveiled NiGHTS 2 for the Wii in picture form. My apologies for the short article, but nothing more can be said about the scans at the moment, due to the fact that I cannot read Portugese. The scans are very lovely however, and the article will be updated when we have a translation. This is final confirmation that the game is in fact in development. And now, without further ado, here are the goods:

UPDATE:

Forum users pedrocasilva and Dante have helped to partly translate the text. Here's what pedrocasilva managed to salvage first of all.

A unpredicted return Nights into Dreams was, and is, one cult title, frequently not understood, and not even the ruin of Dreamcast removed it's fans the hope of seeing the creature returning to Nightopia. And with Nintendo's new console, a window was now open...

And from forum user Dante:

The title will be Wii exclusive ("exclusivo Wii"), will feature a two-player mode, online features and special movements. Claire and Elliot are back. Takeshi Iizuka chose the Wii for the new game because of the controller. Apparently, the game will be officially revealed in April.

ZOMFG!!! And so it is announced. All i have to say is...about bloody time. Its been rumoured for weeks now. I cant wait for this to come out. I never played the original and ive heard alot about it so im expecting this to be good. Hopefully it'll be out everywhere by the year end but i doubt it.

Sorry if this sounds completely stupid, but please can someone explain to me what NiGHTS is? I've never played it, and never actually found out what the game is about or what kind of game it is. And why is it so good? If it really is as good as everyone says I will look into it but would love to hear from all of you guys who know what you're talking about! @ those who dont know Nights (well I don't know why you all dont know or don't want to self-investigate anyway)

Nights is about being in a dream and nightmare of kids and flying freely. It was a revolutionary game in its time and still is. Sega even published a new so called 3D controller which was a pad with analogstick. The soundtrack, level and bossdesign were gorgeous, so was the oldschool but deep gameplay.

Well, I knew that it was some sidescrolling flying game with analog control and this dream/nightmare motif.

What I don't get is why everybody is SO extremely excited about it. It appears to me as if it was manna and ambrosia combined - and if it is so extremey great, I wonder, why haven't I heard about it before, although I consider myself pretty good informed?

Reasons to be excited about Nights:
1) Original art design and level design
2) Fast gameplay (imagine Sonic flying)
3) The original truly played like a dream, you had the sense you were flying in mysterious worlds (imagine what the Wii mote can do to this control scheme)
4) Nights is regarded in general as one of Saturn's great gems from both gamers and journalists. It's great for Wii from a marketing point of view to have this game as an EXCLUSIVE after 11 whole YEARS.
5) If this game plays beautifully (which I'm certain it will) it will convince many gamers that the Wii remote is not only appropriate for party games but also for games for the hardcore audience.
6) Many SEGA fans will definitely turn heads on Wii. Good for Wii sales
7) If the sequel follows the original's footsteps, then it will have beatiful graphics and top-notch music too.

LaiceAterna, NiGHTS is a dream made videogame. Just let's hope that the sequel will be at least half good as the original, and it'll be a great game.
Ah, by the way, I'm pwned by the scans. It looks not refined and polished yet, but the final game will be. <3

It's a way better game than 6/10 IMO. A solid 8.5. So I'm still allowed to praise the Lord about it :)

You guys only gave sonic 6/10? I bought it after playing it on a demo booth and reckon after sonic rush that its probably the best sonic since Sonic and Knuckles! I think Kagato just answered King_Vegeta's question. When did Sega last produce something worth paying RRP for? Few months ago, when they made Sonic Rush on DS. You can say about ten years ago if you want, but I think that a huge majority would agree with me and Kagato on this one.

Oh yeah and isn't the point of these discussion boards that everyone can say anything they want and it all matters? You can't just decide that anything anyone else says doesn't matter, unless you want to be considered narrow minded...

Oh yeah and I had a look at the original NiGHTS, looks pretty awesome. Read up on it (on Wikipedia amongst other places, hell yeah hardcore :P) and now just want some way of playing it to see what all this fuss is about! If this new version came with the old version hidden away as an unlockable then it would be something I'd look at.

NIGHTS 2 is going to cause a lot of sleepness nights unfortunately and not for the fact its A PHENOMINAL game but rather, being an underwhelming game that fails to live up to the hype and its predecessor... Another series that'll have its name tarnished.

Who knows, this team may perhaps make a decent game for once, but if Sonic & The Secret Rings is anything to go by, then don't have high expectations for this title...
