News: Ghost Squad to hit the Wii

Sega's arcade shooter Ghost Squad is set to hit the Wii with an online mode!

With a rumoured 4 game modes: training, "special", multiplayer and arcade, Ghost Squad looks to be the Wii's first online FPS.

There are only a small amount of details at present, but we do know that there are 25 weapons and that it will be an "on-rails" shooter (similar to arcade classic, Time Crisis). Within each of the levels, there are a number of available routes for the player to choose. Weapons to choose from include the pistol, shotgun, machine guns, sub-machine guns and even a cross bow. The Wii version, although very similar to the arcade version, has a few exclusive goodies, you can now disarm bombs and rescue hostages using the Wii-mote.

There will also be a 4-player multiplayer mode.

It's about time the Wii got some good arcade shooting games. I hope it works really well with the Wiimote.

Lets hope it's as good as Virtua Cop.

THIS is what I mean. It was stupidly popular, and now we're getting the slew of games that at least have the potential to be great.

Go back to the Gamecube. If it was multi-platform, there wasn't a great chance it would be great. Nintendo offerings were about as good as it got.

By the end of the year, the PS3 will have over taken the Wii. But hopefully by then, we will have the games to put a stop to their potential dominance.

This could be a good, sounds like a "team player" which could be very interesting, I don't know about the online aspect of the game. The 360 will take some beating. There hasn't been any mention of a mic for the Wii yet, has there?

Awesome! I'm hugely excited by this! I LOVE the Ghost Squad arcades!

If ever I see one, I'll tell my mate about it and we'll arrange a trip to simply just to play it, we both love these games!

sega should bring out all there arcde sgooter games to the Wii
virtua cops, house of the dead and the rest. the Wii is perfect for these type of games.

Irfy, I dare say it will work like most co-operative arcade shooters in this vein, where two people shoot the screen at once. There are also multiple routes, so one player can go one way and another a different way.

YES! there actually is a mic. confirmed to wii! you can get it with a game called boogie (google it) but it will use a mic. and it will be out around this summer! ^o^

Gotta say, if they do this well, in the style of an arcade shooter, then this could be great. I really hope that a proper gun attachment comes out for the wiimote at some point soon. The one Nintendo showed at E3 frankly looked pants. When someone designs one that works properly and feels like an arcade shooter's gun (maybe colour them pink and blue as well :-) ) I think shooters will go to the next level and make it really feel like you're there taking a huge part in the game.
