(In case you've never seen the Live Arcade version) New gameplay details too.

It's something of a minor coup, we think. The greatest reason to use Live Arcade (maybe) is coming exclusively to the Wii and DS, in the form of sequel Geometry Wars Galaxies. Both versions will use their particular touch/motion abilities, though we're hoping they won't detract too much from the pure, frantic, simple pace of the game.

More excitingly, Videndi's press release promises multiplayer and co-op via Nintendo's WiFi, and the option to post high scores on an online leaderboard. Bonus unlockables are available by linking the two titles as well. As reported earlier, the original Live Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved will be packaged in. It's going to be brilliant.

So very very sweet. This is the only game I've really enjoyed on my mates x-box. I can see me wasting so much time on this. Hopefully it'll retail at £20 or less.

I think this is the first time I've heard of Wii-DS link-up since the Wii was in development.

Are there any current/forthcoming games that utilize this feature...?

I wonder how it will be released. If the Wii version goes for an actual physical packaging I hope it will retail at a budget price. Even so I doubt it will ever compete with the $5 or so you're paying now for Geometry Wars on Live Arcade.

There's always the possibility that they could release this via the rumored non-vc game store Nintendo is setting up.
