News: F-Zero X Speeds Onto VC

Vrooooooooooooooooom! New VC titles alert.

Speculation had been swirling around the water coolers for the past week or two that N64 favourite F-Zero X would be gracing the Virtual Console, now we can confirm it. With hyper-fast futuristic ships, mutant racers, twisted and brilliant tracks, and more understated genius than WipeOut could ever hope to muster, the title is a must-download for 1000 points.

Clearly in the shadow is the additional Friday release, the Turbogrphix's J.J. & Jeff, a comic side-scroller in which you have to solve a kidnap case with your spraypaint. 600 points, if you want.

Already online and downloading? Let us know your thoughts in Comments below. Sam will be following up with some reviews soon.

Nintendo releases F-Zero X, one of their best games ever and still someone finds a reason to complain...

Sonic will come, don't worry about it.

I'm not sure about DK64. Nintendo do own the rights, but remember that it was done by rare, so if we do see it, it'll be a while, purely due to the whole Microsoft issue. I'd love to see it hit the virtual console (now my bro's run off with our N64), but it could take a while. Sonic...well, if it's got knuckles in it, I'm prepared to get it, but seeing as it hasn't, I'll be waiting this one out.

I haven't actually yet bought a game from the VC. I think that's more a case of no money than anything else, but I'm saving for other things right now, so the VC is shoved to pretty much the bottom of my list right now..

But the VC has both Donkey Kong Country's and they were both by Rare too!

IMO F-Zero GX had plenty of depth, it was the main thing it didn't lack, the one thing that it did lack though? Online play, the next F-Zero, when it's inevitably announced should be online for Wii, Nintendo could even create a DS incarnation based on F-Zero X with online play to test the water, either way, it would have a good chance of success.

Oditri, stop pretending to know what you're talking about by being a negative nancy.
Nintendo owns the right to every Donkey Kong Game, regardless of the developer, and as such, DK64 will eventually appear on VC.
IF it's held back it will be due to technical difficulties or as a strategic decision by Nintendo.

It's the 64-pearls such as Banjo Kazooie and Perfect Dark where Rare itself holds the rights that are pickles.

Remember, DKC and DKC2 are already out and about.

Finally! F Zero X is in my opinion the best of the series and one of the greatest racers to ever hit a console! Great graphics, speed metal sound track and great AI on the later tracks and a random track generator! This is the game i first thought of when i heard of the Virtual Console, now if they only bring out the previously Japan only Shindou Wave Race i can die a happy man!^ ^
