News: Camelot Developing Wii Love Golf!

Posted by Joćo Lopes - Aug 29th 2007 14:43

Camelot presents us with another golf game, check out the details!

Camelot, known for games such as Golden Sun and Mario Golf develops again for a Nintendo console, this time under the wings of Capcom. Wii Love Golf is a golf game (didn't see that coming did you?) being developed exclusively for Wii (another shocker!) and features anime style characters and full use of the Wii-mote for all your swinging needs. The courses will vary from places such as a beach to desert ruins.

Camelot is very experienced with golf games, so it's safe to expect quality from Wii Love Golf, which is set for release in Japan in Winter 2007. See magazine scans and discuss the game in the forums. More as we get it!

Wii seems to be reeling in the golf games. Not hard to see why though.

ok that is NOT good. This game was supposed to be Mario Golf Wii but they decided to even go to Capcom to publish the game. So Nintendo was unavailable as a publisher?

This is not Left Field studios Nintendo, we WANT the Golden Sun series and we do NOT want to see it move to another platform.

Goodbye third party support from Camelot, as a result of 6,293 units selling for this game worldwide...

Here comes SOL with numbers again. And I haven't forgotten your prediction of 700K Metroid 3 sales around the world.

Not to mention the Wii's Demise eyy Solitanze, only 10 million units, very bad i say?

at the end of the day i would rather camelot get familiar with the Wii by making a joint game with a company who's had at least some experiance with the Wii, and then begin making a Golden Son

In the case of Camelot, as seen in the above usert posts, there is an OVERWHELMING DEMAND for a Golden Sun sequel but they aren't developing it. Allowing for some time to familiarise with the hardware and determine Wiis userbase perhaps? Sure this might be the case, but by releasing some reject game like they are intending on doing, they are going to singlehandly set themselves up for failure on Wii, the finger will then be pointed at Nintendo for ultimately providing an inferior console, and BAM RIP Nintendo Camelot support, and all due to Camelots fault of their own for not tailoring to customer demands/wants in the first place and instead releasing second rate reject material that very few gaming consumers ACTUALLY WANT...

@CSP, as far as I'm aware Golden Sun is a Nintendo property and can't go to any other systems, though I could be wrong.

@Solitanze, die.

"though I could be wrong."

"Camelot Software planning was originally part of Sega, developing Shining Force games. Eventually, they became independent, but still got financing from Sega. Not too long later, Sega broke ties with Camelot, and Sony took over their financing, but as their projects became more expensive, and not very successful, Sony eventually also cut ties with Camelot.

Since 1998, Nintendo has been their financier and Camelot Software Planning has been a second party developer to Nintendo's consoles and to their Game Boy systems."

So simply put, yes you are wrong :p

Actually it does not state who owns the IP but based on other 2nd party contracts in the past, it is Camelot who have to own the IP.

However even if they don't (which is the case with the shining force series) making another golden sun game without camelot is like making donkey kong country 4 without rare. It is like making perfect dark without the original...ehm hang on...:p

"some reject game"

your ignorance and arrogance amazes me. Go and play the original mario golf games on the N64 and GBC, have a look at how well they were recieved in that niche audience and then you can try calling Camelot's golf and tennis games "reject".

Just because it's not a game you want, I think it's unfair to say it's going to be a reject or not good. Golf games often sell well in Japan.
