Media: African Safari Screens

Posted by Tom "Tphi" Phillips - Dec 17th 2007 15:55

Fancy a trip to the Serengeti? New Wii title Wild Earth: African Safari will get you there...

In Majesco's upcoming Wild Earth: African Safari, one must take part in a Pokémon Snap-esque adventure, photographing dozens of savanna animals, from elephants and hyenas to giraffes and rhinos. The aim is to create "informative magazine-quality pictorials," with photos judged on several categories.

The title features three-player co-op, and a Wii-mote utilising Safari mini-game where players control the animals using gestures from the Remote. Check out the first shots by clicking below:

Do third-parties know that gaming has moved beyond Mode7 graphics? Because you'd think that the Wii has the same graphical capabilities as the SNES the way some developers go about it. After Mario Galaxy and Metroid there is no excuse for laziness.

Woot a straight PC port. Even though I read something on IGN that the game wasn't half bad. Asides from graphics of course.

That's funny, i could have sworn N64 development finished 6 years ago....
Seriously though, this is weak. I really do worry about the third parties on Wii sometimes, i mean what the hell is a gamer supposed to do?....Hmmm, ive got a spare 40 quid to spend on a game, lets see...Assasins Creed on Xbox or African Safari on Wii....Hmmm
....i hate being sarcastic, i really do, but im afraid this is a big problem for Wii...especially when its third party exlusives like Soul Calibur Legends turn out to be crap.

@ Skynyrd

If I had Ł40 spare, I certainly wouldn't be buying Assassin's Creed. I got it for my bro and had a shot and it was awful. Everyone I spoke to said the exact same. The only people who have said otherwise are reviewers and posters on forums I go to.

But I do agree, the third party quality of games for the Wii is shockingly bad. Gone are the days when we can say that its only a few months after launch. We're a year into the Wii's life and for the life of me, I can't think of any third party game that was really good to make me want to play it more than once.

Assassins Creed = EXTREME FAILURE, considering this was one of the most hyped up games of 2007 as was an extreme let down. Justification of this follows:

XBOX 360 AC Average Ratio = 82.7%
http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages4/930278.asp

PS3 AC Average Ratio = 81.1%
http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages4/930022.asp

That result is just laughable considering the game was supposed to be one of DA ULTIMATE games of 2007 just about. Your FIAT MONEY is best spent on more SUPERIOR less SEVERELY OVERHYPED LETDOWN games such as AC.

Anyway, back to my original point regarding this news story and the wonderful African Safari game being presented here. Stunning graphics as always, Wiiject game number 100 looks to follow suit and continue the accumulation of titles which may result in one of the worst game lineups of all time for any home console. Not that, that is necessarily a bad though, remember, Nintendos whole strategy of Wii was to provide a flexible medium to gain the respect of developers again through sufficient sales to get them on the bandwagon for Nintendos TRUE successor to the GameCube...

Why doesn´t people show some respect to their own profession any more? All I see is half assed handywork all over the place.

Ew!
Good God, I think I've gone blind!
Gameplay over graphics, alright, but come on..
This must be either a really late or really early April's fool's day joke.
