News: Sam And Max Wii Confirmed

The freelance police investigate the Wii...

There have been a few rumours about Sam and Max going to the Wii lately, but finally N-Europe can confirm this to be true. So far next to nothing has been revealed about the game itself, just that a game is being made. Will it have an episodic format like its previous PC games or will it be something new? Hopefully more news will appear about the crime fighting and overly large gun wielding duo. The press release can be found below:

"JoWooD plant weitere seiner erfolgreichen Lizenzen aus dem Adventure Games für Nintendo Wii zu adaptieren. Eines der nächsten Projekte: Sam & Max. Als Adventure des Jahres, gewählt von den Lesern des deutschen Computerspielmagazins „PC Games“ (zu finden in der aktuellen Printausgabe 2/2008), gehen Sam & Max bald auch bei Nintendo® Wii™ auf Verbrecherjagd."

Which is briefly translated to: "JoWooD plans to adapt more of its successful licenses into adventure games for Nintendo Wii. One of the next projects: Sam & Max. As Adventure Game of the Year, selected by the readers of the German computer game magazine (see the current edition in print 2/2008), Sam & Max will be on the PC soon, and also Nintendo Wii on a man hunt."

Here at N-Europe, we're all extremely excited by this announcement, and we can't wait to see the sadistic bunny and the detective dog duo hit the Wii in all their wittily hilarious glory. Episode 4 of Sam & Max is currently available for free on Steam if you've yet to experience Telltale Games' point-and-click gem.

Update: Telltale Games couldn't confirm the veracity of these news. Shacknews contacted a company representative and they had this to say:

"While it's no secret that we want to bring Sam & Max to the Wii--and it is something we're actively pursuing--we don't have any official news right now. When we're in a position to confirm that we'll be porting Sam & Max to the Wii, we'll make an announcement about it."

So, they don't deny it, but it isn't officially confirmed either, keep up with N-E as we'll be having an exclusive chat with Telltale Games very soon...

Hell yeah, an original wii Sam n Max game would be an insta-buy. Even if this is merely season one boxed together i'll pick it up just to support it.

note how they say 'porting' in the statement ... guess that means not an original game then. i hope they put all the existing ones together in a bundle though, that would be nice of them.

either way, good news - haven't had a chance to play them yet, for shame.

Dudes!!! Completely off topic but urgent! I just read on Planet-Nintendo.de that Smash Bros has been delayed until March 8/9th! That means it will be even longer before it reaches our shores (as I believe the delay is for Japan).

My German's not perfect so let's hope I'm wrong!

Sorry, the delay for SSBB is actually for America but this will most probably affect us as well. The delay in Japan is only another week strangely enough.

Anyways, very sorry and back on topic, the possibility of Sam & Max coming to Wii is good news indeed! Even if the franchaise is ported across, the PC games are renowned for their brilliance!
