News: Three New Brawl Characters Discovered

Three new Super Smash Bros Brawl characters were discovered ahead of time! Don't go inside any further if you don't want any spoilers!

Spoilers: Don't read the text ahead if you want to wait until the game's release (or the info being posted on the Smash Bros. Dojo!! to find out which characters were revealed.

While watching this Brawl video , Gamefaqs forumites noticed that Jigglypuff, Ness and a newcomer Lucario will be playable in Smash Bros. Brawl. How do we know? Well, in a part of the video where the sticker mechanics are being shown, there are icons that show which characters support certain stickers - which include the three previously unrevealed characters mentioned above.

So, there you have it, two more veteran characters and the much wanted Lucario will be fighting against Mario and Sonic. Stay tuned for more.

Update:Nintendo have noticed the leak and edited the video, but here are screencaps, courtesy of this YouTube video.

It's worth mentioning that a Mewtwo icon was not leaked along with the other Pokemon characters, which indicates (not decisively, however) that Mewtwo will not return as a playable character.

Archangel_james: I wouldn't go that far. Even tho these 3 were accidently put there, it's no reason to say Mewtwo's not there. I mean, most characters don't appear in it.

Anywho, this is pretty good. Jigglypuff was no surprise, but Ness sure stops the "no clones" rumour. Lucario is a great appearence tho.

Archangel_james: I thought that first but, considering stickers are only used in Subspace Emissary, Mewtwo can easily take the role of a pokemon villain and not be playable in this mode so no stickers for him.

ProtoKun, Ness isn't neccessarily a clone of Lucas (or vice versa seeing as Ness came first), we still have yet to be informed of his special moves, although like you, I doubt that they are any differences from the previous iteration of the Ness in Melee. However, it was confirmed a while back on the Dojo that Lucas and Ness share very different fighting styles (their standard attacks) so it will be interesting to see how much they really do differ. I'm hoping they've gone and given Ness some new moves or something (although perhaps keeping his awesome PK Thunder attack - it strikes fear into the heart of many smashers!). Choosing to play as either Ness or Lucas will be a toughie for me! (Not to mention all the other wonderful characters I want to try out!).

Really it's just 1 new character revealed, slightly misleading seeing as Ness and Jiggs are Vets and the inclusion of another Pokemon tells me they are running out of ideas (!??!?!!!?!!) OH MY GOD!! I'm turning into Soltanize!

I've noticed something else. Pause that same trailer at 3:41, it should be showing you Ike and Link battling the 100 man Melee, but who's that icon next to Link's? Why it's only Zelda's!!!! Could that mean a possibly 3 player co-op?????

This just shows how much their own team plays this game, and that they like it as much as we do.

@ Mas9dj: The red Metal Alloy has the same move set as C.Falcon, so I guess that he's in. It would be rather weird to take him out since he's been in all the other games, particularly the first one when he wasn't as famous.

Nice to see Ness and Jiggly back plus the addition of Lucario! I like to use Ness and Jiggly during some matches just to add some variety :)

@ RawkingRawlings ... good spot! i can't work out what it means though ... her icon only appears for a split second and then disappears, it's a bit odd ...

but i supposed you could conclude that either there is a 3-way co-op, or that they randomly drop in a playable character as an enemy in that mode. very interesting nonetheless

From further rumours elaborating on this that I have found elsewhere on the Interweb, I have heard that Captain Falcon will be appearing along with Star Wolf, Falco and a cel-shaded link. Although these are still rumour so take it with a pinch of salt.

Star Wolf seems very likely to be in it seeing as it would represent a bad guy from the Starfox series for the Subspace Emissary. The fact that Samurai Goron is an assist trophy also lends itself to all but confirming Captain Falcon. But I guess we'll have to wait until it is released to find out for sure. Either that or find someone who got the strategy guide that Famitsu were giving out for the game with the magazine with SSBB's review in it.

If he has a moveset similar to the games he's going to be a well balanced fighter......BUT!!!

He's gonna be one tough pokemon too beat!!

There's still another majority of characters that have not been confirmed...I for one would like too see Marth and Roy back...an Ganondorf

Good to see Ness is still in. I would've been extremely cut had he been omitted in favor of clone Lucas... Jigglypuff, good, will be useful for Cruel Melee, sleep is a killer, Lucario, the more new characters the better. I don't care if it replaces Mewtwo...

Krystal is 100% GUARANTEED in the game, its been confirmed pretty much already through the voice overs website...

I think they should work dark samus or a space pirate or one of the Ing into the game...I was just playing Echoes and it all occurred to me

Im pretty excited about Lucario, considering they havent officially announced him I guess that means that there are other new characters that wont be announced :D

Hmm.. Are you sure that isn't lucas in a different colour, or maybe pokemon trainer. I don't think ness is returning.. the dojo website even said so:

"There’s a character named Ness who has appeared in the Smash Bros. series up until now, and Lucas is very similar."

I agree with agent, chances re the so called ness icon is actually pokemon trainer...think about it

all the icons next to it are pokemon...wouldnt ness seem a bit out of place there, whereas pokemon trainer would fit right in

also, if the picture beneath the one showing the lucario icon is the edited image, why does it still show the "ness" icon? If it actually is ness they would have editied it so we couldnt see him, like they did with lucario and jigglypuff, but if its the pokemon trainer icon then they have no reasn to edit him out of the picture, explaining why it is still there...sorry sol...no ness 4 u :D
