News: Gosen Joins The Fray!

Posted by Nathan Whincup - Apr 1st 2008 09:49

Nintendo's failure of a PR executive has agreed to lend his 'talents' to a European exclusive feature of Super Smash Bros. Brawl!

Super Smash Bros. Brawl has suffered from so many delays in Europe that Nintendo have decided to settle for the rather vague release date of 2008. David Gosen was usually the man to blame for such hinderances during his reign of terror as the managing director at Nintendo of Europe. Though he recently joined the ranks of Microsoft, a trusted source has just provided us with evidence of his return to Nintendo... as a playable character in Smash Bros. Brawl.

Our source writes that Microsoft and Mr. Gosen were more than happy to see the fearsome mechanical overlord join the ranks of respected Nintendo characters, such as Mario, Link and Samus. NGamer Magazine (formerly NGC) were also asked to plan a robotic moveset for Gosen, which derives from the various insults thrown at the marketing failure by the magazine a few years back (he was referred to as GO-SEN, an emotionless, homicidal PR robot with laser beams for eyes).

David "GO-SEN" Gosen returns to Nintendo once again to be pulverised by loyal fans who had to put up with him all those years ago.

The leaked Smash Bros. Dojo update sees the game's producer, Masihiro Sakurai, hilariously describe Gosen as a 'traitor' who joins the fight for the pure purpose of getting the crap kicked out of him. In this update, Gosen's side-splitting cybernetic move-set is detailed.

His standard special move is Robo Beam, which sees laser beams shooting out of Gosen's eyes and into his petrified victims, in a slightly weaker yet swifter take on R.O.B's own Robo Beam. His up special, Robo Burner, heats up his usually cold and unforgiving outer shell and forces Gosen upwards, incinerating the poor sap who dares to stand in his way.

Gosen's side and down specials make use of his mechanical movements and agility, with Rotor Arm acting like a longer-ranged version of Kirby's hammer, and the Gyro attack seeing Gosen flipping onto his head and spinning his electrified legs around in a circle.

After receiving the tip-off from our source, we contacted Mr. Gosen for a statement, who promptly replied: "No comment."

With the Dojo updates expected to end this week, this would be the perfect send-off for all the patient European and Australian fans of the Smash Bros. series.

We're not sure about you, but this more than makes up for the tediously long delay of Brawl in Europe. Stick with us for the latest on David Gosen and any other exclusive developments!

UPDATE!

We know we had so many of you going there, but all good things must come to an end, and we must confess that this was indeed an April Fool's Day gag. Don't feel too bad, as you can check out this video of Duke Nukem Forever on the recently announced Wii 2 to cheer yourselves up.

I cant believe i was so stupid, specially as it didnt really occur to me that there had been no pictures of this on the net.. argh!

Really a missed opportunity... out of all the things you could have done, you choose the most unrealistic thing possible? I know its April 1st and all but come on, at least make us wonder if its true or not even if it is for a split second.
ShadowV7 Says:

If we done something serious, people would know straight away it was fake with no humour, or think it was real and get annoyed it was fake. So we thought we'd go with something a bit funnier.

If we did do something serious, would you not tell us how it was so obviously fake or something? Dunno why people are so bitter.
Nathan Says:
April 1st, 2008 at 09:01 || Total Comments: 1105
No one takes the news seriously on April 1st. If we released a story about the Wii 2 which was deadly serious, that'd just make you all bitter and complain that it was blatantly a hoax.

We've aimed to make it hilarious and give you all a laugh, not to fool you. ;)

I think all the negative comments are funnier than the actual article. :P

If we'd posted a "real" April Fools people would just get annoyed. No other big sites are doing things which are dubious. No one's going to believe any of Google's things, or the BBC's flying penguins or even IGN's Zelda intro.
NintendoRevo Says:
April 1st, 2008 at 10:47 || Total Comments: 51
Oh come on if you have done something not too obvious and ppl fell for it then you would have the classic "oh my god you idiots almost gave me a heart attack with you stupid april fools shit, i am never coming back to neurope shit site!!!!!"

The article was awesome and if it was true would be even better haha

Reading through the comments i find it amazing how people are all "oh you should have put more effort and tried to trick us for real".

Even if we did that, i'm sure everyone would be here saying "hhmm...isn't today April 1st", so instead we just tried to do something that was an obvious fake but trying to get a laugh...yet still people get all serious "oh you should have tried something "real"."

Guess it's just a lose lose situation :p

I thought this was quite funny. Saw that it was a joke straight away on the main page but just couldn't hold myself from having a look and reading it. Quite good actually as far as April Fools jokes go.

And to the guy further up... You better be joking about the BBC faking those flying penguins. I saw them this morning and was like,' Holy Cow! That's amazing. I want one.' You may just have ruined my fantasy. :( I thought they were real and I still believe it's real. Although... some of the footage they showed did look questionable. Argh... damn BBC playing with my mind.

Would like the main protagonist of GTA series to be in Brawl and Cloud Strife so I could KO them 250,000,000+ times for their contribution to Sonys all time great sales success, which probably won't be surpassed for at lease 15 years.
