News: Ghostbusters Playable At MCM London

Posted by Steven Penny - May 20th 2008 12:10

Vivendi, Koei, Konami, 2K and Atari showing their faces at the MCM Expo this weekend.

If you’re a fan of all things Ghostbusters, the MCM London Expo could be of interest to you. Thanks to Vivendi you’ll not only be able to go hands-on with the upcoming game ahead of its autumn release, but also meet Ernie Hudson of the original movies, who will be present and signing autographs. If for whatever reason that doesn’t get you excited, as Vivendi put it ‘Equipped with a variety of unique weapons and gadgets – you’ll be able to hunt, fight and capture a wide range of supernatural villains in a funny and frightening battle to save New York City from its latest paranormal plague’.

On a side note, joining Vivendi is Koei, Konami, 2K Games and Atari. When you’ve had enough of the games there’ll be plenty more to see, with exhibits from companies such as Twentieth Century Fox, Universal Pictures and Warner Bros.

The MCM Expo will be open over 24 to 25 May. For more information visit www.londonexpo.com.

Update 21 May – A Vivendi PR has sent out an e-mail to its press contacts to clear up confusion. It would appear that Ghostbusters is not going to be playable by the public, but just for the press opening. We would like to apologise for any inconvenience.

If only they had the Ecto-1 sitting outside the place. That would be brilliant. Almost as brilliant as the Nintendogs car outside the EIEF in Edinburgh one year. Couldn't help but pet the thing.

To quote from the web site:-

"As part of the promotion for the 'GHOSTBUSTERS' game Sierra Entertainment UK will offer visitors to the London MCM Expo the to experience a 9 metre high 'Stay Puft Marshmallow Man' and ECTO - 1 from the movie!"

Whether it's inside or outside I'm not sure. I'll be there early as we've got fast track tickets.
