Capcom may be ready to announce a Wii project similar to Lost Planet and Bionic Commando very soon...

Were you disappointed when you discovered that Bionic Commando wouldn't be coming to Wii (or even the Virtual Console)? We have some news that might be of consolation to you.

Staff writer Maikel de Bakker recently got the chance to pose a question to Christian Svensson, who is the Corporate Officer/Vice-President of Strategic Planning & Business Development at Capcom (by the way, we tried to say his job title and ended up out of breath and rolling about on the carpet - Wii Fit clearly hasn't worked its wonders).

The question was "Are we going to see Bionic Commando, Lost Planet or something like this on the Wii?" Mr. Svensson replied, "Possible... the "or something like this" part we could talk about in a couple weeks perhaps."

A couple of weeks conveniently falls right before the E3 2008 conference. What exactly are Capcom planning? A spin-off of either Lost Planet or Bionic Commando, or a completely new IP?

Its a Ubisoft-are-idiots-look-at-us-making-real-wii-games game. I hope.Capcom seem a good supporter so far.

yeah they are! it really looks like they like the Wii to. With already 6 games out on the Wii 2 on the 360 and 2 on the PS3 Capcom does make that clear! and with an adventure shooter on its way they do make my heard beat faster!

Capcom a good supporter? Really? Outside Zack & Wiki, the only good Capcom wii games have been ports of older games, Okami and RE4. We get a sloppy spinoff of Resident Evil, while the 360/PS3 gets RE5, Street Fighter 4, DMC4, Lost Planet & Bionic Commando.

Capcom have released more than two games for 360/ps3 I can think of 3 anyway. Oh and Mario RPG out on vc in June :-)

Now that Beyond Good & Evil 2 and Prince Of Persia aren't coming to Wii we'd better get some love from other developers, such as Capcom. I support them fully, I've even advised people in a gameshop yesterday to buy Zack & Wiki :P

Capcom are a good supporter, all their Wii games have been top quality (seriously, most are 80%+ games). Konami however seem to think it's a joke. Kojima begs for Snake to be in Brawl, Sakurai puts him in, and how does he return the favour? TARGET TERROR!

It's each person's opinion but I didn't think the resident evil was a sloppy spinoff especially since it was a totally different as a shooting game. I actually quite enjoyed it and surprisingly, my girlfriend and sister like playing it too. Maybe if what the 360 and PS3 get are what's upsetting people then.. maybe you have the wrong console? If you find yourself dissapointed that the other consoles are getting the RE5s and SF4s, then maybe it's time to reconsider. I knew when I bought the Wii that I wasn't going to get real powerhouse 3rd party games.. just innovative and experimental ones which I was fine with. Wonder if Trojan or Strider will ever get a facelift.

@ Nathan - you can't really take Konami as an example of poor support on the Wii. I admit Target Terror was the most assinine thing to bring to the console though. Konami did give us the superb Pro Evo Soccer Playmaker on the Wii so that's an upside. If you want to take an example of poor support for the Wii, take Ubisoft. Yes they are releasing loads of games on the Wii but all of them have been absolutely terrible. Not one decent game has come from them and yet they are continuing to shovel this crap on us. If any of you frequent Kotaku.com you can read a news story on why Ubisoft's support for the Wii has been poor, with the guy making a right arse of himself saying that it's a family console and that those who are using it don't want these more mature games.

You're right, Konami are an excellent supporter in comparison to Ubisoft. I forgot about Pro Evo. And believe me, I know all to well about Ubisoft. Sign up to the forums and check out what's going down there. :p We haven't reported on it because it's only Raide, the Ubisoft forum manager, who made those comments, it wasn't an official Ubisoft statement. BUT several Ubisoft viral marketers have been ratted out on NeoGAF and VG Chartz. Forum users have lured them into a trap and then exposed them, after they've been lured into making comments like "Ubisoft obviously prefer to develop on the 360/PS3". With that type of attitude, I don't think they'll be getting my money for a long time.

Zack and Wiki utterly, utterly rocks. By far the best 3rd party game. "Ubisoft's support for the Wii has been poor, with the guy making a right arse of himself saying that it's a family console and that those who are using it don't want these more mature games." Even family suitable games deserve not to be crap. This logic is like, doubly flawed.

Mako, REUC is the first game i've returned in disgust in a long time, the game has terrible IR sensitivity, constant cheap hits, and completely patch-work visuals that look good one minute and abbhorant the next, a whole chunk of the game is infact just graphics lifted from one of the PS2 spinoff games. I guess some might find it fun in some way, but I just don't get it, compared to other Capcom games, hell compared to other on rails shooters it really feels like a hacked together beta product. And don't pull this 'maybe i've picked the wrong console' shit on me, theres no excuse for not giving us a version of those games, I grew up playing visually downgraded ports of arcade games and was just fine, it's the gameplay that counts. I couldn't stand going back to playing RE5 without the control brought forth in the wii edition of RE4.

i absolutely love REUC. still play it a lot even though i've unlocked and found most of the bonus content. at the moment it seems capcom are incapable of making a bad game.
