News: Capcom Wii Project Still Coming

Posted by Nathan Whincup - Jun 14th 2008 16:32

Thought Spyborgs was Capcom's "or something like that" title? Think again, they're cooking up something else entirely.

Late last month, we reported that Capcom were planning a Wii title similar to Lost Planet and Bionic Commando which would be announced over the coming weeks. Shortly after our story, Capcom announced the madcap Saturday morning TV style title Spyborgs, leading us to believe that Spyborgs was indeed the mysterious "or something like that" title. How wrong we were.

Issue #25 of NGamer Magazine features a very small preview of Spyborgs, with an enigmatic quote nestled within. "There's a bullet with our name on it if we speak of their ultra top secret Wii title (a surprising take on a next-gen favourite), so we'll stick to the safer, though still intruiging, Spyborgs."

A new take on a next-gen favourite? Bionic Commando and Lost Planet are definite possibilities then. Just to get you salivating like a rabid dog over the possibilities, we hear Devil May Cry 4, Street Fighter IV, Resident Evil 5 and Dead Rising have quite a fan following as well.

Viewtiful Joe...?

I'm hoping for Street Fighter but I dunno, can't think of what other games Capcom make, lol. A new Z+W would be great.

"Next-gen favourite" were the wise words of NGamer, so I presume that's gonna be 360/PS3, ruling out Viewtiful Joe.

Next Gen favourite would also imply that what this wii game is being based on is already available to purchase, which therefore downs any chances of Street Fighter 4 or Resi Evil 5. I could see it being a Devil May Cry compendium. I'm sure the controls would work well with the hack and slash thing although it'd get a bit boring quickly. I do hope it's not Dead Rising as I don't see the attraction in that game at all. If any thing Lost Planet would be a nice touch. As long as it included online.

RE5 and SF4 are yet to be made, so can't be next gen favourites. bionic commando would make more sense with the wiimote.

maybe it's a second remake of RE4. point and click style.

still wouldn't be surprised if RE5 made an appearance in a year or so. capcom haven't ruled it out. they also said to expect a lot of AAA titles to be announced from next year....

I see it being either a Dead Rising title or an alternative Street Fighter IV. There is a chance it could be Bionic Commando, but that wasn't in production at all a few weeks ago, so if work has only just begun, then there's no point in hell getting anticipated about it untill at least another 12 months.

Capcom are announcing 2 big surprise games at E3, so we'll see then.

Im waiting with baited breath, Capcom is my all time favorite games developer! The chance to see Dead Rising, Bionic Commando or Resident Evil 5 is an exciting prospect indeed!

Hm, I have no idea what this could be, but the Wii has seen more than its fair share of disappointing spin-offs of real game series... so i'm sceptical, but hopeful. I really can't imagine dead rising, the system couldn't render the pure magnitude of zombies that made that game fun without looking terrible, and as Auntnadia said, RE5 and SF4 are most likely out if it's a 'current fave'.

I'd like to think bionic commando, but if I was to hazard a guess, i'd say either a DMC compendium or a spinoff.

What i'd /really/ love to see, but will never happen, is capcom taking P.N.03 back to the drawing board and reshape it into something great like it should have been in the first place.

You're all wrong.. it's MEGA MAN !!

What I would kill for a Wii version of Resi 5...
Even though the graphics may not be as good as 360/PS3, RE4 Wii Edition proved how well the Wiimote/Nunchuck combo works...

"I don't think they're working on Z&W2."

Personaly, I really, really *really* hope they are.

But it would be too early for a sequal just yet.
