News: Animal Crossing & Punch-Out!! Wii Detailed

The latest issue of NGamer reveals information from a secretive source about Animal Crossing Wii and a new installment of Punch-Out!!

Those who purchased last month's issue of NGamer will remember that the British publication teased at the revelation of a new project from Nintendo's internal development teams. We received the latest issue of NGamer this morning, and it offers up some very juicy information indeed. Here's a snippet from their feature about E3 2008...

"And if all goes to plan (and our sources haven't played a mean trick on us), that hands-on coverage will be of Animal Crossing and Punch-Out!! Wii, aka Nintendo's great hopes for 2008."

The article goes on to say that Animal Crossing Wii has been finished for a while, and though it isn't an MMO as suggested by rumours earlier this year, it features heavy use of Wi-Fi sharing (and presumably multiplayer, as in Wild World).

As for Punch-Out!! Wii, NGamer claim that Balance Board implementation is on the cards for dodging and weaving, in addition to Wii Remote and Nunchuk controlled punching (which goes without saying) in the style of Wii Sports Boxing and Rhythm Boxing, which was included as a minigame in Wii Fit.

Stick with N-Europe for E3 next week for quality news and coverage from Nintendo's highly anticipated conference.

I know a person who will very very happy if the Punch-Out! news is true. ^^

About AC, I was hoping for a MMOG, but it doesn't really matter as long as it'll have some innovations and heavy use of the Wi-Fi connection.

Well I'm hoping Nintendo have a few more secrets than this for us next week. If AC: Wii and Punch Out! Wii are Nintendo's big games for the remainder of 2008 then they can f off. I was never a huge fan of Punch Out! and Animal Crossing losses it shine after a couple of weeks.

But if this is right, then I'm guessing Punch Out! Wii will be the 'big game' that was supposed to appeal to both crowds of gamers. Not exactly what I am hoping for, needless to say.

I played AA: Wild World for a whole year and I only stopped because I wanted to play other games too. It's a matter of tastes, but AC is a million seller franchise, so it IS a big game.

About Punch Out!, I'm not a fan of it but if it'll use the Wii balance board it could be a great game for fans of boxing.

Punch Out? PUNCH OUT??? This better not be the game that 'gamers will be excited for' quoted by Reggie. We already got Wii Sports and a bunch of other boxing games on the Wii!!! If F-Zero, StarFox and Crystal Bearers aren't announced at E3 then I'm going to get really stroppy!!!

I too hope Punch-Out isn't the 'game gamers will be excited for' either. I loved the original punchout back in the day.. but meh, I have it on the VC and haven't been excited about another boxing game since, not even Super Punch-Out.

Give me my full-blown Star Fox space opera epic please.

Also, yeah, what the hell happened to Crystal Bearers?

i was tempted to tear this page out of N-Gamer in anger when i read it yesterday. Hate animal crossing. i Think its one of the worst games nintendo has brought out. Same with punch out. never liked it. If they claim these are holiday blockbusters, then Nintendo have truly gotten worse in recent times.

If what N-gamer says is true, i'm much more excited about the capcom project which is "far from zack and wiki's fluffiness"
