News: Guitar Hero World Tour Wii Drops Line6

The Wii version of Guitar Hero World Tour will not contain Line 6 technology in its music creation tool.

Vicarious Visions have done a fine job with ensuring that the Wii version of Guitar Hero World Tour has all the same features as its HD counterparts. There's online, downloadable content, a music creation tool... but no Line 6 technology.

"The Wii doesn't use Line 6 effects in real time BUT we exported at least 10 different guitars sample sets for the Wii," says Brian Bright, project director of Guitar Hero World Tour. "So there will be many different guitar sounds and I believe all the keyboard and drum kits are on the Wii."

Line 6 manufacture guitar amplifiers and effects processors, and their technology will be used in the PS3 and 360 versions in the music creation tool. Ah well, we have substitutes, and at least the whole mode hasn't been cut out!

Yeah EA would've cut that mode out, and several others with it as well.

Anyway, I'm confused at to what Line 6 actually does? Does it allow for a realistic guitar simulator/sounds when trying to create your own music or something? And we're gonna have to make do with pre-recorder sounds?

Vicarious Visions are geniuses, but they're not magicians. They can only work with what Activision (and Nintendo) provides them with. This is a shame, but I don't really think anyone's to blame for it.

Nice to hear the Wii versions keeping all the main features at least, it's a shame GH3 on Wii was stripped down.

Right.. I know vst:s can drain a lot of cpu, but there must be one that's not as demanding, if that's the case. We will definitely hear a difference in quality.

I think guitar hero for wii is so owned. This, and then the small inconvinience of having to buy 1 to 2 wiimotes, compared to 360 and PS3 users - who can play together immidiately after buying it. It's so awesome to pay more for less. And also, why doesn't the PS3 version have their controller mounted in the instruments?

And Vicarious Visions ain't "geniuses". From what I've heard, they don't put their game through enough Q&A that one would hope for.
