They left me speechless :o

What am I gonna do with my DS phat?
What are people who bought games/ are making games like Guitar Hero on Tour?

This Iteration of the DS does not take into consideration people who already bought a DS. Or else they want to squeeze more money out of those people

That's a very good point. What about things like the rumble pack, or as was mentioned the Guitar Hero Wrist thingy? (And that rumoured Tony Hawk motion sensor - was that confirmed?)

Also, to me, it's not very aesthetically pleasing... (Hope I spelt that right...)

Lol and also do not forget the suckers that bought the DS web browser.

However I like it and at the same time feel left out/peed off that my current gen portable is obsolete in this generation and not in the next

Yup, day 1 for me. What about the few games (like Guitar Hero On Tour, Tony Hawk's Motion, Slide Adventure) which take advantage of the GBA slot though? I'll be keeping my DS Lite too.

Alright, I was very unsure. Now I'm not, but I'll be keeping my DS for games that need to use GBA games.

The more I think about it now, it's grown on me, despite my earlier post. I'm really looking forward to it now!

the only thing il miss is the gba slot.... but i still have my gba sp so no problems there! i think this new design is great, i wonder if it becomes more of a so called "hardcore" thing with the casual market sticking to lites.

This looks great. My only worry is the tiny speakers...

Ah well, that's what headphones are for, I suppose.

Gonna get this!

The problem is that the upgrade is not purely cosmetic like the upgrades in the past (NDS lite, GBA SP/micro, Gameboy Pocket), but also features new options like the camera. So in order to keep playing all games (surely some titles will utilize the camera) you HAVE to upgrade. Cash-in!

How are they still making the ds smaller while adding more awesome features to it? Shame about the gba support loss though. Will still be keeping my other lite and original though. Built in web browser is cool. Hopefully this one is a bit better. Even embedded vids would be nice. Inly thing that gets me is didnt reggie say recently that "new models were for hardware with declining sales"? Last i heard was ds is still number one month in month out

Hmmm i always end up torn when i find out theyve taken away a feature i like. I still play quite a few of my gba titles on my old ds but im very tempted to get this too, i have a lot of homebrew stuff on the now defunct R4 card so if the new machine can read my sd cards ill just end up carrying both with me...

No backwards capability with the GBA sounds bad at first, but if you think on it, this may be the path towards a VC-esque service where you can download old GB games.

Personally, I'd rather have a VC on the DS than backwards compatibility.

I just got a Limited Edition Pokemon Nintendo DS Lite a couple of weeks ago, and I don't regrtet it, I have my old launch-month DS as well, and I will probably do whatever I can to get this (I guess is time to sell my PSP, I barely used it...)

Ah I'm happy, it's not something we're being "forced" to buy, to enjoy lots of new games, it's mainly for multimedia.

I'll buy it eventually lol

in japan the psp has been making ground on the ds for the last 5 months or so. because everyone in japan has a ds i presume but that could be the reason for an upgrade "flagging sales" technically.

Keep in mind that the DSi will be coming out Nov 1st in Japan, it does not say anything about Europe or the Americas. All that was said was "Well into 2009" Which sounds like holiday season 09. Hopefully by then all of the glitches will be worked out, and we'd get some really cool stuff at launch. Honestly, it sounds like a GBA SP to me, but I still plan to buy it, knowing full well that it is a "third pillar" I think.

Does this mean that the DSL will become incredibly valuable when they stop producing them, as the only way to play GBA games, or will the DSi store do anything?

I'M SO EXCITED NYEHHHH!

I bought the chinese special edition lite, when I went there on a holiday couple months ago, looks of this new thing can't really top that... I know it's better in use than the old lite but I'm not gonna get one before it also looks even remotely as good as the one I currently use. (Needs to get something cooler than a single color plate...)

Oh.... The Joy...... Yeah Right!
What is the point to this device I ask you.
Ok so the screens are bigger, but only marginally.
A webcam, phht, its a portable games machine "games" being the key here. Not that many people can access the net when out and about on the ds and if im at home, where my wireless is, im gonna use the puter to be honest.
Web Browser - Just buy a card and use homebrew it does the job.
DS Ware - if its as poor as what available on the Wii they can keep it.
Why dont corporate companies LISTEN to what its customers want instead of giving you what they THINK you need.
I think everyone would have preferred to keep what exists and have more cpu power and memory going on making it a better faster much more powerful machine than adding gimmicks.
Perhaps there will be those out there who disagree and will go rushing out to buy one, but i'll bet my lifetimes wages on the fact that its not enough people to bring in the profit margins that Ninty hopes, wants and overall REQUIRES.
Good work Ninty, whats next a pointless revamp of the Wii with Game Cube compatibility taken away ???

Quote Martintran
"the next upgrade is probaly on the wii dey mite call it NINTENDO Wii Lite"
In fact its heavily rumored that Ninty will be unveiling what is called the "Wii HD" very soon and apparently is to go on general sale around 2011.
Theres a lot of speculation as to exactly what features this new Wii will have, from it being similar to this DSi pointless effort - bigger onboard storage, more channel space and a proper HD connection, all of which should have been features included in the first place. To it being significantly beefed up hardware and processor power resulting in better more powerful games being available, as im sure you are aware, the Wii has the least powerful hardware in comparison to its rivals ps3 and Xbox360. If it does turn out to be the latter, it may be worth it, but again I ask you, why not just put better hardware in it in the first place, its not like it was not available during the development, same thing goes for being able to store more channels and having more on-board memory space.
It really would have to be real "next gen" - i.e - all the games for it are unplayable on an earlier system so in other words a Wii-2, that would be releasing alongside say ps4 etc for me to think about bothering with it, if its simply going to be running all the same releases, current and future then im afraid they can forget it, id rather spend the money on the games themselves than a few system cosmetics.

this is useless. Nintendo are just copying Sony , i mean they just released some new colors for the lite and now they are releasing a dsi!the ds lite is the best because if you think about it the camera is hardly good, my phone can do better and it's not ganna be loud when you play music as a phone and it's a bit thinner but i think fat is better anyway, i mean if you drop this it'll snap and you can say goodbye to the dsi.it's a massive scam. it's like the gba, when it came out we was like wow but then the sp came out and then we was like a back light! and it's flip but now it's a laughing stock just like this dsi, soon they will remaster this and make a dsi lite, if the ds lite is LIGHT why make a lighter one?
