News: World Of Goo Hitting US October 13th

Posted by Nathan Whincup - Oct 3rd 2008 17:37

2D Boy's extraordinary physics-based WiiWare title will be heading to the US on October 13th.

World of Goo will unfortunately not be coming to WiiWare in Europe. Publishers RTL Entertainment have opted to instead release it at retail, which is (in our opinion) a much larger risk than digital distribution.

Regardless, the game is still heading to WiiWare in Japan and the US, and Nintendo have confirmed that World of Goo will be released on October 13th in the US for WiiWare, in around 10 days. Pricing is still as of yet unconfirmed.

World of Goo is due out in Europe in Q1 2009, and will feature an additional sixth chapter not found in the WiiWare version which takes place on the Moon.

It's not coming out in Europe until next year, and it's at retail.

They're an American developer, actually. I fail to see the sense in what RTL are doing, they've just removed thousands of potential sales in doing this. It most definitely won't be advertised at all in Europe...

I wouldn't normally wish this upon an indy developer, but here's hoping thier sales fail miserably!

Between this, EA's stupid DRM, and the fact Australia keeps getting games so far after the US, I'd say developers need a good kick in the ass. How the mass stupidity spreads amongst these large organisations is beyond me.

Well, it'll probably be selling at a lot more at retail, and whether or not it'll be advertised, they'll probably manage to sell off the copies they do circulate.

There's definitely also good reasons for this move from a business perspective.
