Rumour: Dragon Quest IX On Wii?

An interesting rumour has popped up concering the upcoming DS exclusive Dragon Quest IX as being not so exclusive...

The rumout mill has been doing the rounds again, and gaming website 1UP may have a nice little titbit to reveal.

If reports are to be believed, the latest iteration of the Dragon Quest franchise is set to take a leap onto Wii, as well as DS. The rumour suggests that IX will be similar to the previously announced Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time, whereby DS players will be able to be joined in the experience with Wii owners for a surprisingly quasi-MMO experience for up to four players, all thanks to the much-touted Pollux Engine.

There's no other evidence of whether a Wii version would receive any technical upgrades, apart from apparently playing with faster-paced gameplay. Hopefully Square-Enix will respond to the rumour soon to clear matters up. As it stands, Dragon Quest IX is set to release in Japan (on DS) in March 2009.

Do you reckon there's any truth to these reports, or are they a load of old Pollux?

Thanks to darksnowman on the forums!

Since DQIX doesn't run on the pollux engine, I doubt it's true, or at least the same thing.

I dought its true either.
Hope not, anyway.
Releaseing a DS game on the Wii is a very cheap-ass move, frankly.

I like interconnectivity, but its still cheap.

A new Dragon Quest designed to link up to the DS one, however, would be welcome.
