Next Level Games' Wii revival of Punch-Out!! has been confirmed for a May 22nd release in Europe. Round one, fight!

For the first time since 1995, Nintendo will be releasing a new Punch-Out!! game for the Wii.

Punch-Out!! will be developed by Next Level Games, the team who worked on Mario Strikers Charged Football, and features all the old favourite boxers, including Glass Joe, Von Kaiser, and Little Mac. The game will also support both motion controls (like Wii Sports Boxing) and NES-style controls, with the latter played using the Wii Remote held on its side.

Nintendo have confirmed that Punch-Out!! will be released in Europe on May 22nd, not long after America's May 18th release.

Not only that, but tomorrow, Nintendo of Europe will release Super Punch-Out!! for the SNES on the Virtual Console in Europe to get you in the boxing mood! This slice of retro boxing fun will cost you 800 Wii Points, and we'll have a review for you from Sam Gittins very soon.
