E3 2009: Sadness Surfacing At E3?

Posted by Tom "Tphi" Phillips - May 6th 2009 02:22

Could phantom developers Nibris really be appearing at this year's E3 with the long-announced Sadness?

Polish developers Nibris have updated their YouTube profile with a note saying they will be appearing at E3 this year - to show off Sadness, which was first announced before the name Wii ever replaced the name Revolution. To date, all that's been seen has been a trailer "based upon" the game, with no actual footage featured.

Nibris have long been accused of developing nothing more than "vapourware" (software announced but never actually released). The studio said the same about attending the Game Developers Conference last year - and never showed up.

We have an exclusive interview coming up with Adam Artur Antolski, Nibris' ex-scriptwriter for Sadness who has shared some intimate behind the scenes information about the development (and non-development) of the title. Stick with N-Europe for more!

Yeh likewise. I'm still one of a small group of people who think it'll come and I hope they live up to their word and do show it at E3 because they've disappointed so many times that I think those who still believe will just shun it.

And it's about time they mentioned it. Last time they even mentioned the game was in October or something last year.

I don't see the point in developing... nothing. Is that supposed to mean that the whole company is just one big troll or something? Surely a company has to actually develop something and can't get away with developing "vapourware" for this long?

^ They have been developing though. That's what people aren't getting. Ok, while we haven't seen any of it, they have been working hard behind the scenes with FOG Studios on getting Sadness sorted and I believe that at least development of the DS version of Raid Over The River is still going on. We'll really just have to wait and see what happens.

Its only been 3 years, for a small studio just getting started, it isnt supprising we havnt seen much. Its just a shame they have talked about their work so early.

Still probably havnt got much, and Cursed Mountine is certainly the horror game to get excited about, not Sadness.

It took id Software about 4 years to develop Doom 3, from concept to release. 3 years should be more than enough for any self respecting game company to produce at least something that's showcase worthy.

I'm afraid Sadness is going to be the Wii's Duke Nukem Forever
