News: Nintendo Trademarks 'WiiRelax'

Could Nintendo's latest trademark be related to the Wii Vitality Sensor?

Here's one to ponder over over the weekend. The European trademark database has logged that Nintendo recently took dibs over the right to the name WiiRelax.

While a company as large as Nintendo is trademarking various names all the time, their latest could point to being related to the Wii Vitality Sensor. Revealed at E3 earlier in the year, the peripheral measures the user's pulse, and company president Satoru Iwata specifically suggested the possibility of using the device for relaxation.

Nintendo have already announced plans to divulge full information of the Vitality Sensor at next year's E3 conference, so we'll see then whether WiiRelax will indeed be the first piece of software to make use of it.

Can you see yourself winding-down a stressful day with some WiiRelax in future? Sound off below...

Whatever this is, and whatever the Wii Vitality Sensor evolves into or gets used for, surely only Nintendo could pull off something like this?

You say surely only they can pull it off but will likely be the kind of product you will use for a week and then soon get bored of...

@Cipher: Agreed, but is it perhaps too mad even for them?

WiiRelax doesn't have the same ring to it as WiiSports or WiiFit... Wiilax would have been better, but I'm not a marketing guru...

It sounds mad to us, yes. But I honestly don't think this is the sort of thing that we, the gamers, will be using. Especially in Japan, though all around the world, places such as nursing homes and hospitals have taken to using Wii for various reasons. This could be primarily for use in establishments such as these.

Nintendo need to act quickly and get this out to consumers ASAP as Biometric capabilities have pretty much been confirmed for Sonys superior motion sensing controller unveiled @ E3 (refer to recently filed patents)...
