News: US To Receive 200k Wii Units Per Week

However, shortages of both the PS3 and Wii may end up boosting 360 sales!

According to the latest report by Lazard Capital Markets, Nintendo is expected to deliver anything between 150,000 to 200,000 Wii Units to North America each week until the end of 2006.

Demand for both the Sony Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii are both strong, but shortages of both may lead to a boost in 360 sales. A certain title, Gears Of War, is also contributing to the strong sales of Microsoft's console.

All the major new hardware manufacturers should benefit from impressive sales where units area available according to Lazard's Colin Sebastian, who noted: "Our retail checks and comments from specialist retailer GameStop indicate that there is strong demand for PS3 and Wii ahead of meaningful replenishments, while the Xbox 360 appears to be benefiting from new console shortages and the release of new title Gears of War."

This console war is really a three horse race this time, and it will be a fascinating one to watch.

As long as Nintendo and M$Xbox360 do well I'm happy, I just don't want another generation of Sony being the top-dog of the console market. It's good to see the Wii being in such a high demand, marking a good future for Nintendo.

The idea of the 360 benefiting from Wii and PS3 shortages is stupid.

Maybe it's sales are going up because it is close to Thanksgiving, Christmas and consoles are in the news right now?

Nintendo really needs Wii to be a home console success this generation. They have got to stop the rot of declining sales. I hope they manage to surpass the sales of the GC as quickly as possible.

Christmas does play a part, but think of the bigger picture:

Parent walks into town to buy their son/daughter a game's console for Christmas. If both the PS3 and Wii are sold out for Christmas, whats the last next-gen alternative?

That maybe the case once in a while but if someone wants a Wii or a PS3 then they won't settle for the alternative.

Aye, but thats mostly with gamers themselves. If somebody just wants a game console, then it turns out this could be their only choice, in theory.

Of course, if that theory turns out to be true, then we should see a rise in 360 sales this crimbo. So, we'll see then.

I'd rather not see microsoft do well ... They're fans are quite bad and their PR people really drove in the Kiddy Console - Kiddy Game idea into everyone's mind. They also like the throw money around and that never turns out to be good. If they are responsible and do what's best for gaming, that's great, but I don't think turning gaming into a marketing/image battle is good for the industry. Yes sony does it too but I think I've noticed it more since MS has joined the party.

I came out of the cinema today having seen FOUR XBox360 ads prior to the film starting..
Utterly over the top!

Yet it grates on me because the Wii is due to launch yet M$ are pumping out adverts in cinemas after a year of their console being on shelves..Yet where is Nintendos new consoles adverts? And I doubt 100% that Nintendo will be advertising the Wii in UK cinemas in a years time.. Thats Nintendos downfall. They just dont put the money into advertising..I pray it will change yet the DS is the biggest selling console at the moment and, yes, it has been advertised but where are the developers for it? The PSP is LOADED with software (generic, mind) yet the DS shelves look IDENTICAL everytime I walk into game sections...Rant over!

I think the advertising will come. It's already started, actually. Small, subtle introduction to Wii ads. The calm before the storm.
