Bug Fables is coming to the Nintendo Switch

For those of you who remember a certain RPG series known as Paper Mario, chances are that you'll probably have fond memories of the first entry on the N64 and its sequel Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door on the GameCube.

Despite having several entries in the series since, arguably none of them have matched the brilliance of the first two titles, which is a great shame as generally it's still an excellent series.

However it seems that developer Moonsprout Games along with publisher Dangen Entertainment may well have answered many fans prayers in at least a spiritual sequel sense (even though it's too early to tell) with their original game called Bug Fables.

The game started life on Indiegogo in 2018 and it has now been comfirmed at Bit Summit that the bug-based title will be coming to the Switch.

It's clear to see where it draws its inspiration from but it still looks like the studio is making the formula its own and adding in some interesting twists.

Here's some information plus you can check out the game in motion in the trailer below...

  • Many unique areas, including: The Ant Kingdom, the treacherous Snakemouth Den, the picturesque Golden Hills, The Lost Sands, and Bee's home, the Bee Kingdom!
  • A vast overworld that transitions into turn-based combat! Use Bee's Beemerang, Moth's ice magic, or Beetle's horn to defend yourself from foes!
  • Action commands which can make attacks more effective, or block enemy attacks!
  • A cooking system to turn ingredients into items that can help you in battle!
  • A tattle system that lets you hear your party interact with each other as they discover all the secrets Bugaria has in store!

What do you think of Bug Fables? Could it be the long-awaited spiritual sequel to Paper Mario? Or is this all pure hyperbole that could quite easily be crumpled up like a ball of paper and tossed aside?
