E3 2011: Nintendo Not Concerned With Vita's Price

Nintendo isn't worried about the fact that the price of the new Sony handheld will be the same as the 3DS.

During their E3 conference on Tuesday Sony announced that their new handheld the Vita, previously codenamed the NGP, would retail for $249 in America, making it the same price as the Nintendo 3DS. Many felt that this would lead Nintendo to drop the price in order to compete but it would seem that Nintendo are not worried.

In an interview with Gamasutra Nintendo of America's senior director of corporate communications, Charlie Scibetta, seemed to brush off the Vita's price by saying that if Nintendo continue to offer good content people will continue purchasing the 3DS.

He also stated that Nintendo are focusing on what they have to offer, as opposed to worrying about other platform holders, and that they will "continue to innovate... and encourage our third party developers to take advantage of the system."

When asked about the fact that following Tuesday's unveiling of the Wii U saw Nintendo's shares decline Mr. Scibetta did not seem concerned, reminding everyone that shares dropped after the announcement of the Wii and 3DS too.
