Final Week of Online Play for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U

PSA: This is the final week you’ll be able to play your 3DS and Wii U online! Services close on Monday April 8th in the US (4pm PDT), and Tuesday April 9th in Europe (2am GMT).

We covered this news back in October, which you can read in full here, but the main details can be found below:

Nintendo recently announced that online services will end in 2024, which includes support for still populated online titles such as the original Splatoon, and Mario Kart 8.

It is worth noting that some third party games may stay online, such as how Call of Duty only recently closed its online services for the Wii and Nintendo DS.

And for you Poké fans out there, Pokémon Bank will still be useable for now.

Nintendo also have this to say in regards to online play before the April 8th/9th closure:

Please note that if an event occurs that would make it difficult to continue online services for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U software, we may have to discontinue services earlier than planned.

For the foreseeable future, it will still be possible to download update data and redownload purchased software and downloadable content from Nintendo eShop.
