Last ever Splatfest Event on July 22nd

Since its launch Splatoon has asked players to take sides to settle the big questions that face us today - cats or dogs?  Pineapple on pizza?  Spongebob or Patrick?  On July 22nd they will face the ultimate question - Callie or Marie?

Nintendo has announced that July 22nd will see the last ever Splatfest Event for Splatoon and it's going big.  The Squid Sisters themselves are being pitted against each other and fans must decide which is their favourite as they compete against other players in North America and Europe.

The battle will run from 11:00 CEST (10:00 UK) on Friday 22nd July until 11:00 CEST (10:00 UK) on Sunday 24th.  After this the global results will be tallied and the ultimate winne will be announced.

If you are undecided on who to battle for, a live concert at the Japan Expo in Paris on Friday 8th July may help you decide.  Callie and Marie will perform a concert at the event in Paris, but if you're unable to make it you can watch it later that evening on YouTube.

July 8th also sees the launch of five new Splatoon amiibos including Callie and Marie themselves and some new colours for Inkling Girl, Boy and Squid.  The Callie and Marie amiibos unlock a personal concert in Inkpolois Plaza.

If you can't get enough of musical squids, then you'll be happy to hear that on July 28th three Squid Sisters songs will be added to Wii Karaoke U - “City of Colour”, “Ink Me Up” and “Calamari Inkantation”.

As well as all of this, the Miiverse community for Art Academy is asking fans to use any of the Art Academy titles to share their drawings on the theme "Splatfest memories" until July 13th, the best of which will be highlighted on the Splatoon Facebook page later on.

If you've not yet picked up Splatoon, it is currently on offer on the eShop until 21st July.
