Media: Silent Hill: Shattered Memories Trailer

Watch the first trailer for Konami's horror title Silent Hill: Shattered Memories now! Or are you afraid?

Silent Hill: Shattered Memories isn't simply a remake of the 1999 classic, but rather a re imagining that aims to please the series long time fans and newcomers. And while this could simply be PR, it seems the developer Climax Studios really intends to offer a new experience.

For starters, combat was removed from the game forcing the player to run for his life instead of beating up something that is supposed to make you soil your pants. The classic tank controls from the series were also completely changed and the camera is now locked over the character's shoulder. Perhaps more importantly, the game profiles you psychologically depending on what you do during the game, thus changing various things throughout your playthrough.

Another interesting feature is that instead of using menus that break the mood, you use a PDA to change the settings, check the GPS, take photos or call game characters among many other things. The Wii Remote speaker also plays a huge part with various noises coming out of it including the static Silent Hill fans know and fear. The team is certainly trying to make the game as immersive as possible and everything so far points out that they're doing their job well.
