News: 3DS Firmware Update Pushed to December

The long-awaited 3DS firmware update gets a last-minute delay...

Nintendo has confirmed that the 3DS firmware update once promised for November has been delayed until early next month.

Nintendo's official Japanese, North American and European websites announced today that the update would instead be released by December 8th. A specific reason for the late decision was not given, but it is believed the new firmware is still going through an internal testing stage.

The update, which will be available to download for free, includes all new features:

  • Record video in 3D - capture up to 10 minutes of 3D video, or even make your own stop-motion animations.
  • New ways to play using StreetPass Mii Plaza - with new puzzles for Puzzle Swap and new areas in StreetPass Quest.
  • The ability to perform a complete system transfer, including downloaded software, between two Nintendo 3DS systems.
