News: 3DS Passes 6 Million Sales in Japan

Over six million people in Japan own a Nintendo 3DS according to new figures.

In spite of early reports of the Nintendo 3DS not doing well it has gone on to outsell its predecessor at an incredible rate. Latest figures show that the console has now passed the six million sales mark in Japan.

The latest figures from retail tracking group Enterbrain (courtesy of Andriasang) show that the Nintendo 3DS has sold over six million units since going on sale in Japan sixty-five weeks ago. The exact figure is an impressive 6,017,206 units, showing that all the early naysayers were off the mark.

The console reached the five million milestone thirteen weeks ago, beating the Nintendo DS and Game Boy Advance to that landmark. The Nintendo 3DS is the quickest console to have reached five million sales, which is something that undoubtedly makes Nintendo very happy.
