News: 3DS Sells One Million in Japan

Nintendo's newest handheld has sold one million units in Japan.

Since its launch back in February the Nintendo 3DS has been marred by talk of under-performance but now the console has passed the one million sales mark in Japan.

Mainichi report the newest Enterbrain sales figures for May, translated by Andriasang, which indicate that the console has hit the one million mark. It took the Nintendo 3DS thirteen weeks to do so, while it only took the original DS four weeks.

Similarly the DS Lite and DSi took eight weeks to sell one million units so the 3DS has been the slowest selling iteration of the DS line, although with big titles such as The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, Star Fox 64 3D and Super Mario in the near future sales will undoubtedly pick up soon.
