Nintendo have been swift to debunk initial reports of MIDI music for Super Mario Galaxy 2. Phew, had us worried for a moment there...

Our forums were recently set ablaze when initial impressions from the live demoing of Super Mario Galaxy 2 at San Francisco's Nintendo Media Summit revealed that the highly anticipated sequel to 2007's sublime platforming masterpiece seemed to feature a MIDI soundtrack.

However, IGN's Matt Casamassina has received word directly from Nintendo of America, swift to extinguish any worries fans may have about Mario's second intergalactic outing, that the finished product will feature a fully orchestral score, as per its aurally astounding predecessor.

Lay down your pitchforks, put the kettle on, and go remind yourself how good Super Mario Galaxy was in preparation for the sequel. Perhaps we'll do the same, too...
