News: Latest On Resident Evil: Deadly Silence

The DS incarnation of the original Resident Evil is to feature a multiplayer mode! That and more inside...

It has been confirmed that four players will be able to play simultaneously. Though whether you'll be playing co-operatively around the classic mansion or head-to-head in a deathmatch like set-up wasn't mentioned. For the moment, Capcom are keeping quiet.

Other new information about the game included that the title will feature no health meter! In a radical change, you determine your character's health by the top screen's background colour! Green as usual means you're healthy, which ranges through yellow to red - meaning you'll be needing a herb or two.

As in classic Resident Evils, your map will only be filled in once you've explored areas, there'll be plenty of puzzles - this time to be solved via the stylus, which will also be useful as you'll be using it to wipe the blood off your screen. Additionally, microphone support may be included - for example to provide mouth-to-mouth to dying colleagues.

The game will feature knife battles - where the normally third-person game switches into a full 3D first-person angle at fixed points. After the knife battle ends, you are returned to the usual perspective, which apparently features the classic Resi-style pre-rendered backgrounds.

Revo-Europe will have more for you as it breaks.
