News: Modern Warfare 3 Patch Released

Activision release first patch for the Wii version to address some online issues.

After the confusion of the 3 day delay in the Wii version of Modern Warfare 3 in Europe, when gamers finally got their hands on it they were more confused by the return of "lag-shooting" in the online mode. To many this seemed a step backwards from the previous Call of Duty game "Black Ops" which had proper hit detection in the online modes.

Another issue that many were affected by was the coppurtion of their game save if their game froze while playing online. In an attempt to prevent players from "rage quitting" while online the game would cause data to be lost if a player turned off or unplugged their console. However those who expereinced an unfortunate mid game console freeze were also reporting the loss of save data.

Activision and Treyarch have now released a patch to solve these issues. To update your game simply try to load up multiplayer and you will be prompted to download the patch. Below is a statement from the developers that was posted to the Wii community in the official Call of Duty forums

Hello MW3 Wii Community,

We are listening to you and are working on updates to the game based on your feedback. Today we have posted an update that should address the two most reported issues reported by the community:

Players are experiencing an issue commonly referred to as "lag shooting" where network lag will cause the player to have difficulty hitting an opponent.

Several players have reported their save data getting corrupted when the game freezes.

You must have a Wii Shop Channel account in order to download certain updates. Visit Accessing the Wii Shop Channel for information on the Wii Shop Channel.

The game will prompt you to download the update when you start Multiplayer once it is available. If you are already running the game at this time, switch to Single Player and restart Multiplayer to get it. The update cannot be downloaded from Spec Ops, and you will be prompted to switch over to Multiplayer in order to access it.

Please continue to check the forums for updates. Any further issues identified for fixing will be updated to this space in the future.

In the meantime, thank you for your playing and thank you for your patience.
