News: Nintendo 3DS Announced!

The true DS successor gets unveiled - a 3D capable handheld device without the need for glasses!

In a shock move, Nintendo has announced the Nintendo 3DS, the sucessor to its current dual-screened handheld, which will see release before the end of the financial year (March 2011). The system will offer true 3D graphics without the need for any special glasses.

Pleasingly, the 3DS will offer full backwards compatibility to existing DS and DSi games. Nintendo confirmed that all will be revealed this June at the E3 Expo, where the company will unveil full details of the upcoming handheld system.

This backs up all the recent rumours that have been circulating about a next-gen DS iteration. No one however was predicting a full 3D-capable device. Were you?
