News: Nintendo Predicts 3DS To Hit 4m By March

Nintendo reveals its estimations for the 3DS by the end of its fiscal year...

In the same monetary report that saw a steep profit decline, Nintendo has also announced how it expects the 3DS to perform in its first weeks on the market.

By March 31st 2011, Nintendo expects sales of the system to have reached 4 million worldwide, with total software sales of 15 million. The figure is perhaps something of a conservative prediction given it is the successor to the most popular handheld ever.

The company also revealed the total sales of its current systems as of December 31st 2010. The DS family accumulated a staggering 144.59 million units sold, while Wii stands mighty with 84.64 million units.

Nintendo 3DS launches in Europe on March 25th.
