News: Puzzle League DS Heads To Europe

The acclaimed puzzle series sends its DS incarnation to Europe...

Puzzle League DS, known as Panel De Pon DS in Japan and Planet Puzzle League in the US will make its way to Europe on the 29th June. The series is often described as "The best non-Tetris Tetris game."

In the original version, blocks raise from the bottom of the screen, and you move a cursor around (selecting 2 blocks) and press a button to swap them. Get 3 of the same colour block i a row and they vanish. As simple as that. However, unlike Tetris (which was given a Nintendo-themed makeover and extra games), this benefits from the DS. The DS is held sideways, and the Stylus replaces the D-pad, allowing for a faster and more frantic game than before. It also has the standard control option, holding the DS the traditional way round.

The game has endless, stage clear and garbage challenge (involving garbage blocks - large unmovable blocks that transform into normal blocks when you link a chain of same-coloured blocks to them); as well as Vs Mode against the computer, other local players and over WiFi Connection; a time attack mode, puzzle mode and a "Daily Play" mode. The Daily Play mode gives you a time attack challenge once a day, and scores are kept in a chart.

Puzzle League DS is out on the 29th June for an RRP of 20.
