Samurai Warriors: Chronicles

News: SAMURAI WARRIORS Gets Iwata Ask'ed

Satoru Iwata sits down to chat with Tecmo Koei Games' President about the upcoming SAMURAI WARRIORS: Chronicles.

Nintendo's President Satoru Iwata continues his discussion with the developers behind the biggest 3DS launch games with Hisashi Koinuma from Tecmo Koei Games. Mr. Koinuma discusses how he went from playing arcade games as a child to getting a job at Koei in 1994 before finally getting his current position in charge of Tecmo Koei Games.

Hiashi Koinuma has worked on many games while at Koei, and later Tecmo Koei Games, most notably the Dynasty Warriors series, and Satoru Iwata asks him all about his experiences with these games and how he learned from them.

Mr. Koinuma also discusses the new challenges he faced when working on SAMURAI WARRIORS: Chronicles for the 3DS. This is the first title in the series that has used two screens and Mr. Koinuma talks about how the company decided to make the most of the unique possibilities the system offers.

The 3DS instalment is called SAMURAI WARRIORS: Chronicles because it is based upon the long and rich history spanning almost 100 years, from the beginning of the Sengoku period to the end of the Edo period in Japan. This title is also the first in the series to feature a fictional character as the main character.

SAMURAI WARRIORS: Chronicles will also apparently make full use of the 3DS' two-gigabyte ROM to really deliver an immersive experience, through being able to fit in much more content onto the game's cartridge.

The pair also discuss much more in the interview, which can be found on the Nintendo website.
