News: Sega Throwing Big Weight Behind 3DS

The Japanese giant announces plans to significantly back Nintendo's 3DS...

Despite still remaining in the shadows, the announcement of Nintendo's 3DS has been enough to cause an enthusiastic stir amongst advocates of 3D technology and developers hungry to get to grips with a new piece of Nintendo hardware. The 3DS may not have made a public appearance to the press yet, but developers and publishers are already preparing to take advantage of the system's potential.

Speaking to Japanese publication Nikkei, Sega's Naoya Tsurumi cited the company's optimism for the platform, and pledged hefty support: "I believe 3D will become a big wave. The Nintendo 3DS is a landmark hardware. We'd like to invest heavily in it."

The company found big success by throwing early support to the Nintendo DS, with the bizarre, pseudo-sexual mini-game collection Project Rub, then later the critically acclaimed Sonic Rush.
