News: Sonic Million

Sega has announced big European sales for Sonic Heroes.

Proving that the "Old Ones Are The Best" Sega has announced that Sonic Heroes, the latest in its' 3D Sonic The Hedgehog franchise, has sold over 1 million units in Europe alone.

The game, which has now gone into the budget range across all formats, was the most highly praised of all of Sonics' 3D outings, it was also the first Next Generation Sonic game to be designed for non-Sega consoles.

Mike Hayes, Managing Director, SEGA Europe, had the following to say:

"The phenomenal success of Sonic Heroes demonstrates that the Sonic The Hedgehog brand is stronger now than ever. We are proud that our legendary mascot has retained his mass-market appeal, an integral element of the continuing multiplatform growth of the European arm of SEGA."

This can only be good news for Sega, considering that many die-hard fans were concerned that the merger with Sammy would lead to a dip in production of Sega-branded titles.

Congratulations are of course in order, but there are two words of criticism we have for the developers for the next Sonic game: Camera Issues.
