News: Spore Delayed Until 2009!

The highly anticipated evolution simulator has been delayed by almost two years!

Father of The Sims, Will Wright, has been involved with a brand new game called Spore for a few years now. It's basically like The Sims, except instead of controlling little people going about their everyday lives, you are God. You control the evolution of a species from a single-celled amoeba to a highly sophisticated and complex creature. Once the race has evolved sufficiently, you can expand on said race and create a civilisation of intelligent little beasts. The game was announced to be coming to the Nintendo DS, and there were whisperings of a Wii version (though this was never confirmed). Stamp out that fire you just started in anticipation of the game: it's been delayed until 2009.

That's all there is to it, really. No explanation was given for the delay, we just know that it won't be out until 'fiscal year 2009', which could be anywhere from the start of October 2008 to the end of September 2009. It's possible that the delay is to incorporate more brilliant ideas into the already fantastic looking game, and then there's the slight chance that it might be getting ported over to a certain kinetic-powered console...
