News: Starfox name change for Europe

A recent email from Nintendo has confirmed our suspicions. It seems like the upcoming Starfox Adventures will be known a something rather different in Euroland.

Lylat Wars Adventures: Dinosaur Planet is the new, European exclusive name for the game which should hit stores across Europe this Autumn. Here's the revealing part of the email sent by Nintendo this weekend:

''See the Nintendo GameCube footage of Mario Sunshine, The Legend of Zelda, Metroid Prime and Lylat Wars Adventures: Dinosaur Planet that wowed the crowds... glimpse the multiplayer-mode remake of a classic Legend of Zelda adventure and an all-new Metroid Fusion on Game Boy Advance... and learn how GameCube and Game Boy Advance are set to interact like never before with amazing Link Cable and e-Reader action.''

Why it has taken them this long to make the name change is unknown, but it was expected. You may remember that Starfox 64 was known as Lylat Wars in Europe, and Starfox (for the SNES) was renamed StarWing for the European market. I suppose Nintendo were worried that the Starfox name would be a little too unfamiliar with European GameCube owners - either that or the legal wranglings with the Starfox name still exist this side of the pond. More news as we get it.
