News: UK Retailers Begin Cutting DS Prices

In a move that signals the 3DS is on the horizon, UK retailers have begun slashing the price of the DS...

With Nintendo's 3DS fully unveiled and being prepped for worldwide release, erm, sometime soon, prices for previous models such as the DS Lite are getting cut.

Amazon.com has been offering the pink-flavoured DS Lite for 99.99 for a while, but today CVG is reporting that supermarket Sainsbury's have joined the price-cutting war, dropping all DS Lite colours to 99.99 from the RRP of 139.99, a tidy saving of 40.

From June 18th Nintendo allowed UK retailers to drop the cost of their ageing handhelds to a price of their choosing - it'll be interesting to see what other chains follow suit. We also hope to see reductions in DSi prices soon too.
