Blue lights have been flashing on Wiis all across the world. It must be firmware update 4.1!

Japan saw the release of Wii firmware version 4.1 first this weekend, as the recently released Wii Sports Resort was forcing owners to watch the introductory MotionPlus video every time the game was booted. This has now been fixed, and released worldwide before the game hits Europe and America over the next few weeks.

Also, and only in Japan, the Nintendo Channel has seen a facelift, with content more easily accessible than before (but no new features per se). It has to be re-downloaded from the Wii Shop Channel for changes to take effect. No word yet if or when the West will see this part of the update as well.
