Nintendo Switch becomes fastest selling console in America

In just ten months the Nintendo Switch has sold over 4.8 million units in North America, making it the fastest selling console in the region. It beats the Wii, which previously held the record having sold 4 million units in that time.

What makes it more impressive is that for the first few years the Wii had stock issues as customers were keen to pick up the cheap console following a lot of buzz.  The Switch had some stock issues earlier in the year, but it seems Nintendo's work to ramp up production is paying off as the console continues to sell well.

Nintendo of course was pleased to point out that over 300 games have been released (physically and digitally) including titles like DOOM, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Stardew Valley and more.

The first year of the Switch has already seen plenty of first-party titles released and while we know some that are coming this year we fully expect more to be announced shortly.

“Fans across the country have experienced the joy of playing their favorite games at home or on the go. Now that many more people have received Nintendo Switch systems for the holidays, we look forward to bringing them fun new surprises in 2018 and beyond.”
Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America’s President and COO.
