Pokémon Direct 02 27 2019 Roundup

Nintendo have just finished broadcasting a short but sweet Pokémon Direct in which they finally showed off the two latest mainline entries in the Pokémon series.

Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield will be released on the Nintendo Switch in 2019 and will feature a brand new adventure in the Galar region which looks to be loosely inspired by the UK.

Here is a quote from the direct and an image of the new region...

"Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield will be set in Galar, an expansive region with many environments—idyllic countryside, contemporary cities, thick forests, and craggy, snow-covered mountains. The people and Pokémon live together in this region, and they’ve worked together to develop the industries here.

You’ll visit the various Gyms in the Galar region, aiming for the enviable and admirable title of Champion!"

And of course it wouldn't be a Pokémon game without some starters to choose from...

Here's the video for those who haven't checked it out yet or might want a recap...

More details will of course come to light later on in the year and we will of course update this article with the PR info... just as soon as Nintendo releases it.

But for now, what do you think about the latest entries in the Pokémon series? Is it exactly what you expected? Or were you expecting more from GameFreak?
