Pokémon Rumble U announced

Pokémon spin-off games, eh? For every Pokémon Snap there seems to be a *shudder* Pokémon Channel and that's where Pokémon Rumble stands out from the crowd. Some people love it, others hate it but one things for sure, with a third instalment on the way, Nintendo obviously have faith in it.

The gameplay is simple, yet requires a few tactical choices. Whilst on your journey (which can be played with up to four players), you take control of hundreds of Toy Pokémon and battle your way through a variety of areas packed with Giant Enemy Pokémon.

Unlike the handheld games, the battles take place in real time, and sometimes become quite the brawl. Every now and then, a Pokémon that you just fought will stay laying there on the floor, which means it's yours for the taking and can be added to your team.

The series carries the same cute visual style first seen in My Pokémon Ranch on WiiWare, whereby each Pokémon is presented in a 'Chibi' style model with as few polygons as possible, yet another decision that split gamers.

But really, who could not adore that Pikachu?

The game is set to release on the Wii U eShop and whilst it has no specific date yet, it will be out before Pokémon X and Y, which also confirms that it will only feature Pokémon from the first five generations, meaning there will be 649 Toy Pokémon to collect in the game.
