In Super Mario Maker, you can use Amiibo to play as "costume Mario", an 8-bit representation of your Amiibo, such as Wii Fit Trainer. These have a unique look and new sound effects.

Nintendo are also releasing a 30th Anniversary Mario Amiibo, with a 3D 8-bit design. This will make Mario in Mario Maker oversized, making your gameplay experiance bigger.
