Virtual Toys making free to play Wii U title

The Wii U is set to receive its first free to play title thanks to Virtual Toys. Sadly though, this may not be a great start for F2P games on the Wii U as previous games developed by Virtual Toys include DS titles such as Horsez and Imagine Fashion Designer which were met with a hefty dose of criticism upon release.

Virtual Toys have yet to reveal the identity of the game but they have suggested you won't find anything like it on the market right now.

Our strategy for the future in the F2P [Free To Play] business is not only to be there just because we want to be in the F2P area, but also because we want to make games that are quite ahead of what you can find on the market right now.

We've developed a new title which is technologically and graphically state-of-the-art in F2P games. This game is multiplatform and also in terms of gameplay it's a different and unique experience on consoles or PC. It's a really, really big project."

Whilst Virtual Toys certainly don't seem to have the best track record, they do seem to be very excited about this next venture and it also appears to be their biggest project yet. Whatever it may be, the title is set to release on Wii U, PS3, PS Vita and PC in the near future.

If anything, this hopefully goes to show how Nintendo are giving developers more freedom than ever before on the Wii U.
