April Fool: Gamecube Plus for November

Nintendo have confirmed that the Gamecube Plus will be released in November in Japan. The new system will enable Dreamcast and N64 games to be played. It is hoped that the new system will see off competition from Microsoft's Xbox and the PlayStation 2. The new system will be 512bit and ableit the most powerful games console to date.

More surprisingly is the fact that the new system is being co-developed with Sega, and will utilise technology which will enable it to play both Nintendo 64 and Dreamcast games. Nintendo has also announced Super Luigi 512 and The Legend of Zelda: The Piano of Time for the system. It is expected that the console will retail for around $300 when launched simultaneously in Japan and the US. Nintendo will officially unveil the eagerly-awaited unit at a press conference on Wednesday. More news as we get it.

**UPDATE**

Contrary to earlier reports, the Gamecube Plus will not be silver coloured but will look look indentical to the current Gamecube hardware, apart from a cartridge slot at the back of the system.
