Bayonetta 2 wouldn't exist without Nintendo - Inaba

Bayonetta 2 would not exist were it not for Nintendo, according to developer Platinum Games's lead producer Atsushi Inaba.

The clarification comes as gamers adjust to the news that Bayonetta 2 will be published by Nintendo exclusively on Wii U.

Speaking to Polygon at the Tokyo Game Show, Inaba shed light on the process which saw Bayonetta 2 fall into the hands of Nintendo.

"We are not viewing this as a change of platform. We were looking for a partner to create Bayonetta 2 and Nintendo was a strong, cooperative partner that was willing to create and grow Bayonetta 2 together [with us]. As a result the platform became the Wii U.

"Would Bayonetta 2 not exist without Nintendo? The answer is yes."

Both Platinum and Nintendo are remaining coy about Bayonetta 2, offering just a short teaser of the game. Platinum and Nintendo's much more imminent collaboration is The Wonderful 101, directed by Okami and Viewtiful Joe visionary Hideki Kamiya, which is due to release in the Wii U launch window.
